Arsenal battling United and Liverpool for 44 million Brazilian starlet

Arsenal are set to lock horns with a series of European clubs in order to secure the services of Brazilian U17 star Alan Guimaraes, according to reports.

The Palmeiras attacking midfielder has been targeted by Real Madrid, Manchester United and Liverpool to name a few, but Arsenal are said to be joining the race and see the 17-year-old as one of the most exciting prospects in world football.

AS reported last week that Alan will sign for Real when he is 18 next summer, with them also snapping up his compatriot Vinicius Junior from Flamengo. But rumours of Alan’s capture by the Spanish champions comes with no substance as of yet, and Arsenal might fancy their chances of signing the Brazilian if they meet his £44m release clause.

Alan began his career in the Sau Paulo youth team before joining Palmeiras where he has made his name as one to watch in the future. His contract runs out in 2019, and therefore a cut-price could be negotiated for the youngster.

Wenger is famous for snapping up youthful talent and developing them into stars, so could this Brazilian be the next big thing? If so, could he do so at the Emirates?
