Arsenal Back On Top

The Gunners had an easy job defeating Crystal Palace who put up a great fight but could not keep up with Arsenal until the end of the game. Oxlade-Chamberlain led Wenger’s side back on top of the Premier League standings with high hopes Chelsea will manage to defeat City which would allow them to keep the one point advantage they currently have over the Citizens.

The 20 year old, Oxlade-Chamberlain stood out throughout the entire game. It was his first Premier League start in quite a while and what a return he managed to make. The English international has not been included in Wenger’s first eleven since August but with Walcott out chances have started to emerge.

Arsenal’s first goal came after Cazorla managed an impressive assist which left Oxlade-Chamberlain alone on the left side of the box, facing only Julian Speroni. In two short touches the youngster managed to get the ball over Crystal Palace’s goalkeeper who stood no chance.

The second goal was just as good as the first. Oxlade-Chamberlain’s heel flick reached Giroud who passed it back to the English international. The 20 year old flew past Crystal Palace’s defense and found the back of the net from just inside the penalty area. With only 17 minutes to go, there was not much the visitors could do.

Arsenal controlled the entire game but made an impact only after the first half ended. It was probably once again Wenger’s doing who looks like he has found the key to motivating his players when things don’t go quite according to plan.

Crystal Palace had few chances and never looked dangerous. The Gunners continue their unbeaten streak and now reach the 10 game milestone.
