Arsenal ‘Are Interested’ In La Liga Defender With £67.5m Release Clause

Arsenal “are interested” in signing Sevilla centre-back Diego Carlos, according to the Daily Telegraph. Both head coach Mikel Arteta and technical director Edu see the 27-year-old as a key summer target.

However, there are some obstacles that could stop the Brazilian’s move to the Emirates. The defender has a €75m (£67.5m) release clause and there are a number of other teams interested in the player.

Both Liverpool and Manchester City have been linked with a bid for Carlos in recent months, after making a big impression following his move to Sevilla from Nantes last July.

It is thought that the Premier League champions are looking at possible replacements for Dejan Lovren, who has been sold to Zenit St Petersburg.

City, meanwhile, are said to be looking for another centre-back, on top of the potential addition of Nathan Ake from Bournemouth.

A move for Carlos would only be realistic if Arsenal are able to raise funds through potential sales in the coming weeks.
