Arsenal ‘Are In Contact’ With Former Chelsea Manager’s Entourage

Arsenal have held talks with former Chelsea head coach Maurzio Sarri, according to Calciomercato.com.

The Italian website claims that the Gunners “are in contact” with the 62-year-old’s representatives as they look at potential replacements for Mikel Arteta.

For some reason, there has been a lot of talk from the Italian press about Arteta’s future over the past week, with another report claiming that Roma’s Paulo Fonseca is also being considered as an option.

None of these reports have been substantiated by UK-based sources so it is best to treat these latest claims about Sarri with a great deal of scepticism.

Calciomercato say that Sarri’s entourage have also been in discussions with Tottenham, who are looking for a new manager after sacking Jose Mourinho.

Ironically, it seems Sarri was favourite to be appointed at Roma before Mourinho got the job ahead of him, leading to the Italian seeking employment in England instead. Whether either Arsenal or Spurs will actually make a move for him, we shall have to wait and see.
