Arsenal “Anxious” To Reach Agreement With Players By April 27th Amid Looming £75m Financial Blackhole

Arsenal are facing losses totalling £75m if the season isn’t completed, according to the Evening Standard. The newspaper reports player wages, combined with the loss of matchday revenue, are putting huge financial pressure on the club.

The Gunners have already stated that they won’t take advantage of the government’s furlough scheme during the global health crisis but that will present its own challenges.

April 27th is the next date when all staff will be paid for the month and the London club’s hierarchy are said to be “anxious” about coming to an agreement with the players over a wage cut by then.

However, negotiations have reportedly been fraught with difficulty. A proposed 12.5% salary reduction was rejected by the players on Monday and there has been no breakthrough in talks so far.

PFA representative Hector Bellerin is the main go-between, between the squad and the club, but Arsenal are said to want a virtual team meeting in order to iron out a compromise as soon as possible.
