Arsenal will have to see off North London rivals Tottenham if they want to secure the services of Borussia Monchengladbach striker Marcus Thuram, according to reports in the Italian media.
The 25-year-old, who has been included in France’s squad for the World Cup, has been linked with a switch to the Emirates over the past week, with Fabrizio Romano having weighed in with his thoughts in recent days.
However, it appears Spurs will also make an attempt to snap up Thuram, whose contract at Gladbach is set to expire at the end of the season.
The Bundesliga side are reportedly keen to prevent the Frenchman from leaving on a free transfer next summer so they are prepared to sell him for a knockdown price in January.
Thuram is expected to be sold for just €10m (£8.7m), which is a figure that will certainly not deter either London club from making a bid.
