Arsenal and Tottenham Eye Highly-Rated Right Back

Twenty two yearold, Sebastien Corchia is one of the most talented defenders in France at the moment and has represented his country at the youth level for U-17, U-18, U-19 and is currently playing for the U-21 side. He is known to be an attacking full-back, who likes to bomb on forward at every opportunity.

Currently, he plies his trade with Sochaux in Ligue 1, who sit just two points above the relegation zone with eight games to play. It seems highly likely that a player of his quality would like to compete at the top level and therefore he could well be set for a move abroad in the summer. Even if the French outfit manage to keep their league status, they look likely to lose their star defender.

The Frenchman has stated his current objective, which is to help save the club from relegation. But, after that, he would like to move on to a bigger club who occupy a position at the other end of the table.

According to talkSPORT, he said, “For now I am thinking about Sochaux and want to save the club from relegation. After that my dream is to go to a big club. We will wait and see what happens at the end of the season.”

The article also states that Arsenal and Spurs are interested in the talented wing back. They have been put on red alert with Corchia’s admission that he would like to play for a bigger club and both teams hope they can offer the player Champions League football next season.

Arsenal’s current first-choice right-back, Bacary Sagna, has been inconsistent this season and he is said to be openly criticizing the club’s transfer policy. Second-choice, Carl Jenkinson, is not ready to warrant a first-team berth all the time so Wenger is keen to recruit the young French defender to the Emirates.

Kyle Walker currently holds the right-back spot at Spurs with the relatively unknown Kyle Naughton serving as his understudy. Spurs are in line for a return to Champions League football for next season and are keen on beefing up their back-line with a bid for Corchia.

If both clubs achieve Champions League football, it will be interesting to see which club the 22-year-old will choose.
