Roma winger Cengiz Under is closing in on a contract extension at the Serie A club, according to reports in the Italian media.

The Turkish international scored six goals and provided 11 assists in 33 appearances for the Giallorossi last season, and his form over the last two years has attracted a number of suitors.

Arsenal, Tottenham and Everton have all been linked with moves for Under but the 21-year-old is a key part of new manager Daniel Fonseca first-team plans.

He is currently only earning €1m a year (roughly £17k a week) at Roma, and his new deal is reportedly worth €2.5m (£43,000 a week), extending his contract from 2022 to 2024.

Under was said to be one of the names manager Unai Emery has been considering to strengthen in wide areas.

The Gunners have subsequently moved on to Crystal Palace’s Wilfried Zaha and Gremio winger Everton Soares, but their transfer budget has hamstrung them in their search to strengthen their squad.
