Arsenal And Newcastle Tipped To Battle It Out For Serie A Ace As Potential Backup Option For Mudryk Is Identified

Arsenal and Newcastle are both pondering a move for Napoli winger Hirving Lozano, according to reports in the Italian media.

The Mexican international’s contract with the Serie A leaders expires in eighteen months’ time but, so far, there has been no agreement reached over an extension.

A sale is, therefore, being considered, with the Gunners keeping tabs on Lozano’s situation. It’s unlikely that Mikel Arteta’s side will step up their interest in the player unless a move for Shakhtar Donetsk’s Mykhaylo Mudryk falls through, but he seems to be the main backup plan at the moment.

Lozano is reportedly keen on a switch to England but, whether he would actually be a good addition for Arsenal, it is up for debate.

This season, the 26-year-old has scored just four times in 20 appearances for Napoli, although manager Luciano Spalletti has only selected him in the starting eleven on ten occasions. We shall see if the Gunners do decide to go after the player later in the transfer window.
