Arsenal could be offered the chance to sign Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar for a knockdown price at the end of the season, according to reports in the French media.

Due to the 22-year-old’s drop in form and fitness issues, it is believed that the player could well be let go for just half of his original €60m (£52m) valuation.

The Gunners did make a bid for Aouar last year, only for the player to opt against a move away from Ligue One, but things could well be different this summer, with Lyon open to a sale with the Frenchman having only two years left on his contract.

There could be more competition from other Premier League teams this time around, though, with Liverpool having recently been linked with Aouar back in March. Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain could also be a threat so Arsenal may have to be quick if they want to get their man
