Arsenal And La Liga Giants ‘Willing To Pay’ Spanish Starlet’s £35M Buyout Clause Despite Fresh Transfer Twist

Arsenal and Real Madrid are both “willing to pay” Gabri Veiga’s €40m (£35m) release clause, according to Mundo Deportivo.

The Celta Vigo playmaker has been heavily linked with a number of teams, including Manchester City, Manchester United, Liverpool and Newcastle, but it appears that the Gunners are among the favourites to secure his signature.

Veiga has been in excellent form this season, having scored nine goals and provided four assists in 28 league appearances, and Celta are hoping to cash in this summer with the player’s stock rising.

However, Mundo Deportivo report that the midfielder is reluctant to leave the La Liga club. In fact, he has requested to stay for one more season.

From the sound of things, though, Celta are adamant that Veiga will be sold, as it has been revealed that the Spaniard came out of a meeting with his club this week visibly upset. It remains to be seen whether that will affect Arsenal’s decision to go ahead with a bid for the 20-year-old.
