Arsenal And City Set To Battle It Out For Norwegian Playmaker Who Could Fetch £71m

Arsenal and Manchester City are both keen on Real Madrid winger Martin Odegaard, according to Eldesmarque. The Spanish publication reports that the two English clubs will be vying with Atletico Madrid, Borussia Dortmund and Inter Milan for the 20-year-old in the summer.

The playmaker is currently on a season-long loan at Real Sociedad, where he has scored two goals and provided two assists in seven appearances this campaign. It follows on from a breakthrough season playing on loan for Vitesse Arnhem in Holland where he scored 11 goals and made 12 assists.

Real are aware of Odegaard’s growing reputation and the interest he is generating. Eldesmarque report that even though the Norwegian international probably has a market value of €60m (£53.5m), they are looking to auction him off to the highest bidder for around €80m (£71m).

That figure would likely prove steep for the Gunners but City are said to be prepared to make their move in the summer. We shall have to wait and see who wins the battle for the starlet’s signature.
