Bayern Munich will not offer centre-back Jerome Boateng a new contract despite playing a key role for the Bundesliga side in recent weeks, according to BILD.
The tabloid claims that the German, who has been capped 76 times by his country, will almost certainly leave the Allianz Arena when his current deal expires in the summer.
Five teams from England and Italy are thought to be keeping tabs on Boateng’s situation, and both Arsenal and Chelsea are believed to be among them.
The Gunners are expected to look at signing another centre-half in the summer but it remains to be seen whether they would be interested in snapping up a player who turned 32 in September.
Manager Mikel Arteta already has a number of centre-backs on the club’s books, but if David Luiz does leave when his contract ends in June, there may be room for another experienced defender to take his place in the squad.
