Arsenal And Chelsea Are Both Plotting January Move For Striker Who Has Scored 7 Goals In 11 Games This Season

Arsenal and Chelsea are interested in signing Porto striker Mehdi Taremi, according to reports in the Portuguese media.

The Iranian international has had a strong start to the season, having scored seven goals and provided six assists in 11 appearances so far.

Porto reportedly turned down suitors for Taremi during the summer transfer window but they are expected to be open to selling him in January, with the hope being that his value increases after the World Cup.

Iran are in the same group as England, Wales and the United States, so the 30-year-old’s performances will come under the spotlight during the tournament in Qatar.

Whether Arsenal actually need another option up front, it is debatable. Gabriel Jesus has been outstanding in leading the line for Mikel Arteta’s side, while Eddie Nketiah is a very able backup.

However, Taremi would offer something different to those two players as he is very much a target man, so we shall see if this story has any legs.
