Arsenal, West Ham and Fulham are among the teams who are not paying contracted companies during the ongoing health crisis, according to the Guardian.
The Gunners use Delaware North to hire a number of casual workers for the Emirates Stadium in and around matchday, but as there are no matches being played, they are not currently using the company’s services.
Most of these workers are on zero-hour contracts, which means if there are no shifts, they don’t get paid, and there are doubts over whether they qualify for the government’s job retention scheme so they can be furloughed while the football season is paused.
It is very much a grey area, with Arsenal continuing to pay the wages of all their full-time employees in full, but their decision not to hire workers from Delaware North during the crisis means they are not paying everyone who works at the club who are there on matchdays.
