Arsenal are interested in signing Empoli midfielder Samuele Ricci, according to CalcioNapoli24. The website claims both the Gunners and Leicester are looking to snap up the Italian Under 21 international.
Ricci’s agent Federico Pastorello has reportedly been contacted by the two teams, while Napoli and other Serie A clubs are keeping close tabs on the player, who has impressed whilst playing in Serie B this season.
In 29 league games for Empoli, Ricci has scored two goals and provided four assists. His form was rewarded with his first cap for Italy at Under 21 level back in October and he has made another two appearances since then.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is expected to strengthen his midfield options in the summer, with Dani Ceballos and Martin Odegaard likelyto return to Real Madrid once their loan spells end.
Whether Ricci is seen as a player who can make an impact at first-team level straight away, though, it isn’t known, but the interest being shown in him suggests the teenager has great potential.
