Arsenal Among A Number Of Clubs Eyeing Cut Price Deal For La Liga Marksman

Arsenal are tracking Valencia forward Maxi Gomez, according to reports in the English media. The Uruguayan international has a £125m release clause but his club’s financial situation means he will be available for a much lower price when the January transfer window opens.

The Gunners are not the only team watching the 24-year-old, with Wolves, Liverpool, Manchester City, Tottenham and Everton all said to be keeping tabs on the player’s situation.

Gomez only moved to Valencia from Celtic Vigo in 2019. He was the subject of bids from West Ham at the time, and since his switch to the Mestalla, he has scored 13 goals in 53 appearances.

It is not a hugely impressive goalscoring record, to be honest with you and, with Arsenal having more pressing needs in other areas of the pitch, it would be surprising if manager Mikel Arteta sanctioned a move for the Uruguayan either in January or at the end of the season.
