Arsenal Alerted As Man City Open To Barry’s Sale

The 32-year old Gareth Barry has never been a mainstay in the City side, filled up with big names in every position possible. He has been in and out of the team on a regular basis and has lost out on his first-team place to the likes of Yaya Toure, Javi Garcia and now Fernandinho who was purchased by the former champions for £30 million.

Barry is expected to play a small role in City’s quest for domestic and European honors this season, and is set to feature sparingly by new manager Pellegrini; who asked about Barry’s future at the club, given the number of players he has at his disposal for the same position. Pellegrini revealed that he does not intend to stand in the way of Barry in case an acceptable offer comes along which will let him play regularly.

Metro report him as saying, “I have in his position also Rodwell, Garcia, Yaya, Fernandinho but I spoke with Gareth, he wants to stay here and he does not any problems to stay here to fight for his position like other players in the squad.”

“If he wants to go because he has better options, it depends on what he wants to do.”

“He is here and in the squad and we will try to use it the whole year, depending on the performance of all the players.”

City are open to considering an offer for Barry, and Arsenal have been previously linked with the holding midfielder. The Gunners are in the middle of a panic attack as manager Arsene Wenger finds himself in a
desperate situation to sign players in numerous positions before the end of the transfer window.

With first choice holding midfielder Mikel Arteta out for at least 6 weeks, Barry could walk into the team and stay there for the foreseeable future, should he make the switch to the Emirates Stadium.

With Wenger looking to plug in the holes at the earliest, a quick buy of Barry could not be completely ruled out.
