Arsenal Agree Terms For Khedira Deal

Arsenal have convinced Sami Khedira to leave Real Madrid in the January transfer window and join the London club who came close to sealing a deal for the defensive midfielder in this past window, according to Metro. Khedira has chosen to move North London rather than link up with his old boss in West London at Chelsea.

The Gunners will be looking to strengthen their squad in the winter as they struggle to put together consistent wins on the board. In all competitions, the squad have faced a difficult time keeping their performances consistent, but are on the back of an impressive win against Galatasaray in the Champions League group stage but showed the difference between themselves and Chelsea as the blues won 2-0 with two bits of quality being the only real difference between the two sides. The defensive midfield position still eludes Wenger’s squad, and the manager will be looking to add Khedira to his ranks in January.

Khedira has been a long term target for Wenger, but the German has had a considerably successful spell at the Whites. He joined Madrid along with compatriot and midfield partner Mesut Ozil following their success on the international stage. Ozil’s spell at the Santiago Bernabeu ended on a sour note following an altercation with club president Florentino Perez which led to a legal debacle.

Injuries have formed a big part of Arsenal’s season so far, and have restricted them from performing at their best for long periods. A return for Theo Walcott will certainly help the team’s attacking instincts, but Khedira’s potential arrival will help solidify the defence. The move will only go through if Arsenal can negotiate a fee with Madrid which is rumored to be in the neighbourhood of a cut price £10miilion.
