Arsenal agree fee with Leverkusen for Bernd Leno

Arsenal have reportedly agreed a fee with German side Bayer Leverkusen for goalkeeper Bernd Leno.

The Gunners have been moving fast so far this summer to get early deals done, with Unai Emery having already completed a deal for defender Stephan Lichtsteiner from Italian champions Juventus on a free transfer and supposedly agreed a deal with Borussia Dortmund over the transfer of Sokratis Papastathopoulos.

Arsenal are also said to be close to signing 22-year-old Sampdoria midfielder Lucas Torreira, who is currently at the World Cup with Uruguay.

But the Gunners were known to be in the market for a new goalkeeper this summer, with both Cech and Ospina failing to nail down the position as no.1, and it looks as if Leno is set to be the answer to their goalkeeping woes, with Arsenal agreeing a fee of around 22m euros (£19.3m) with Leverkusen.

Leno has been at Leverkusen since 2011 and is rated as one of the top goalkeepers in the world. It is believed he is yet to have a medical with Arsenal, but the player is keen on a move.

So as Arsenal continue to bolster their team ahead of the new season, it seems likely that there are still plenty more new faces to come.
