Arsenal forward Gabriel Martinelli has said he has had no contact with Real Madrid regarding a potential switch to the Spanish club.
After a breathtaking start to his career at the Emirates, some of Europe’s top teams have reportedly been keeping tabs on the 18-year-old, but when asked if a move to the Bernabeu was a possibility, the Brazilian denied the speculation and said he was concentrating on performing well for his current club:
“No, nothing has come to me. I am focused here doing my job at Arsenal and my head is here.”
Martinelli has been superb since arriving from Ituano in the summer, having scored 10 goals in 23 appearances, and he has even established as a first-team regular in recent weeks.
The teenager has also spoken of his appreciation for both Unai Emery and Mikel Arteta. The former gave the Brazilian Under 23 international his debut, while the latter has afforded the forward greater first-team opportunities. Speaking about the pair, Martinelli was very complimentary:
“Both [managers] are amazing people. Unai helped me a lot, he was the first who trusted me and placed me. I will always be very grateful. He was the one who gave me the first minutes in Europe.”
“Mikel now also gives me a lot of confidence. I am very grateful. [He] always try to help me and give me advice so I can improve my football.”
If he continues on the same trajectory, there is no telling what the Brazilian can achieve and fans will be hoping he stays at the Gunners for the long term.
