Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah scored a hat-trick as England’s Under 21s triumphed 5-1 over Austria in a European Under 21 Championship qualifier last night.
The 20-year-old scored two goals from close range, one with his right foot and the other with his left, while he also scored another with his head. He could have had more but he had a penalty saved.
Chelsea’s Callum Hudson-Odoi scored the other two goals as England made it three wins from three matches in their qualifying group.
Nketiah now has eight goals from eight appearances at Under 21 level, having also scored in the 2-2 draw against Slovenia in the friendly last week.
At club level, the forward has been struggling for starts during his loan spell at Leeds, but he has been making an impression when given a chance by manager Marcelo Bielsa.
Nketiah has managed four goals in eight appearances for the Championship club and will be hoping to feature more regularly after the international break.
