Feyenoord sporting director Frank Arneson has revealed four teams are interested in signing midfielder Orkun Kokcu when the transfer window reopens.
There are reports that the 19-year-old has asked the leave the Dutch club, and asked about the player’s future, Arneson said that La Liga side Sevilla and three other clubs were keen on snapping up the Turkish Under 21 international:
“There are no offers. But we are aware of Sevilla’s interest. We have held meetings, and there are four clubs interested in him, one of them is Sevilla. There is nothing official yet, and no offers have been received.”
Arsenal and Chelsea are said to have scouted Kokcu extensively in recent months with it also being claimed that Feyenoord could sell the teenager for around €26.5m (£23m).
The Eredivisie side require funds to bankroll their own transfer plans and with the Turkish midfielder said to be angling for an exit, a departure seems to be inevitable.
Whether the Gunners will make a formal approach for Kokcu, it remains to be seen. The London club are not believed to have a sizeable transfer budget with Raul Sanllehi having suggested that signings won’t be a priority in the current financial climate.
