“Are You Joking?” Sutton Laughs Off Claims That Arsenal Will Secure 15M Deal For Playmaker

Former Norwich striker Chris Sutton has scoffed at reports that Arsenal would only have to spend £15m to sign Emi Buendia from the Canaries in the January transfer window.

The Argentinian is thought to be among the targets being considered by the Gunners as they look for a playmaker but Sutton thinks the London club may have to shell out double what has been quoted to secure the player’s signature:

“£15million, are you joking? He’s worth double that, come on. That’s an insult. Why would you sell Buendia for £15m in January when he is so important in getting Norwich promotion? That’s not worth £15m.”

Sutton does have a point in that Buendia is a key player for Norwich and, if the midfielder can help them get promoted, the riches gained from being in the Premier League would far outweigh the fee they would get for the 24-year-old.

Even so, every player has his price, and it will be down to Arsenal to decide how much they think the midfielder is worth. Reports suggest that the Gunners do have other irons in the fire, with a loan move for Real Madrid’s Isco also being considered.

However, if they miss out on the Spaniard, a bid for Buendia may well be made before the window closes at the end of next month.
