Another Three Transfers Wenger Will Not Go For

Arsenal have been linked to a lot of players especially since Wenger hinted towards the possibility of actually bringing in new players this winter. What most rumors fail to take into consideration is the fact that the only way big players move so early in the season is if their contract will expire in June or if they are not getting along with their current club to the extent that they don’t make the squad no matter how good they are. It is very unlikely to see huge talent move in January unless they come from small clubs or unless they are faced with one of the two situations mentioned above. With that in mind, here is a list of three players who despite being linked to Arsenal, will not make it to Emirates this winter:

  1. Edinson Cavani – The Uruguayan is a constant target when it comes to Arsenal transfer rumors. Seen as one of the best strikers in the world, the 28-year-old has been looking to leave for a while now mostly due to the way he is used by PSG. Ibrahimovich was too good up until now to be set aside so Cavani was sacrificed. The Sweden international is on his way though and Cavani was not entirely pushed away. It is very likely to see him stay in Paris and it is highly unlikely he will join Arsenal who do not need a striker at this moment in time. Maybe in the summer but not now. Spending £40m on the Uruguayan when you have Giroud, Sanchez, Walcott and Ozil in top form would be useless when you need reinforcements on the left wing and across the middle of the pitch.
  2. Grzegorz Krychowiak – £33m – basically that is why he will not make it to Emirates. There is no way Wenger will meet those expectations which seem set in stone by Sevilla. There is also the transfer we talked about in a different article. It looks like the Gunners have agreed to sign Mohamed Elneny from Basel. If that is in fact true, there would be no point in bringing Krychowiak to London, not right now at least.
  3. Michael Carrick – According to the Daily Star, this Manchester United player could be one of Wenger’s targets. Carrick is 34, ends his contract with United in 2016 and has spent almost a decade at Old Trafford. He played for Spurs and West Ham as well so why would he come to Arsenal? Why would Arsenal try and sign him? The answer is simple: there is no reason or chance to bring Carrick to the Emirates.
