Arsenal are lining up a €25m (£22m) offer for Torino centre-back Armando Izzo, according to reports in Italy.
There have been claims made about the Gunners’ interest in the 27-year-old in recent days and it remains to be seen whether the London club will make a formal offer.
Supporters on Twitter, in particular, are very sceptical about this latest rumour:

Good CB, good age, but be cautious of how he manages to deal with pacey forwards. He loves a good foul does Izzo.

18 mil gets you Mario Hermoso?. Much younger and will do the passing and distribution part in absence of Holding.

I think who makes transfers at arsenal plays way to much Fifa there better of signing Manolas for around the same price

But not before we agree personal terms first, and then get cold feet because the player will cost more than 8mil

They will never accept that.

For his part, Izzo has stated in recent days that he is only focused on playing for Torino, but he is flattered that there are clubs interested in signing him:
“In the meantime I am happy, everyone likes to be courted. I have another 4 years contract with Torino, I want to arrive and show my worth.”
“I don’t like it to be said simply that I am a good player, I am worth more. Italian defenders, apart from Chiellini, I don’t see others stronger and more determined than I am.”
In addition to Arsenal, Manchester United and Everton have also been linked with a move for the Italian international.
Izzo made his debut for Italy back in March, coming on as a substitute in the Euro 2020 qualifier against Liechtenstein.
It followed an excellent season for Torino where his side conceded just 37 goals in 38 games; the fifth best defensive record in Serie A.
