Sami Khedira might be looking to join national team colleagues Mertesacker, Podolski, and Ozil soon after the World Cup final today. The 27 year old midfielder has refused to extend his contract with Real after losing his spot in the post Mourinho starting line-up. According to Metro, even though Chelsea are also interested in his services, Khedira is more tempted to move to Emirates mostly because of the fact that Ozil is one of his best friends.

Arsenal are set to make a £24million bid for the German international who is probably going to receive the same salary as Ozil and Sanchez who are no at £150,000 a week. Khedira is in his last 12 months of contract which means Real will be looking to sell. He would make the perfect addition to Wenger’s side who will probably be counting less and less on Arteta and Flamini’s services.

Rumors that Wenger told Ozil to help with Khedira’s transfer seem true as the German international looks keen on moving to London. Real were already turned down by the player’s agent who did not want to sign a new 2 year deal to stay in Spain.

Sadly Khedira suffered an injury in the warm-up for the World Cup final and was forced to miss out on playing in the show-piece match in Brazil which his side won thanks to Mario Goetze’s winner in extra time. This must have crushed the German midfielder but hopefully he can recover quickly and seal a deal to join the Gunners.

Khedira who has made 91 appearances for Real in almost 4 years and has managed to score 6 times, will likely be the link between Arsenal’s defensive line and Ozil, Ramsey and Wilshere if he does indeed move to North London. Hopefully the transfer will take place as the Gunners are in desperate need of at least three more players.
