Arsenal goalkeeper Emi Martinez put in another excellent display in the 3-2 win against Watford yesterday evening.
The Argentinian international made a crucial intervention to prevent the Hornets from equalising, as he stopped Danny Welbeck’s backheel from crossing the line.
Asked for their man of the match after the game, many fans on Twitter felt that Martinez deserved the award:
anything outside of Martinez is wrong …
An absolute BEAST in net since Leno's injury and ANOTHER absurd save at the end of the game today

Martinez. Kept the game at 3-2. Had a few great saves. No mistakes. Especially with a non-existent centre-backs in the second half.

Number one Bernd Leno is expected to be back in training next week, following a knee injury, and it will be interesting to see who head coach Mikel Arteta picks for the FA Cup final against Chelsea next weekend.
With Martinez having performed to such a high level in recent weeks, the 27-year-old would be favourite to start, with the shot-stopper also having the match sharpness that Leno lacks.
Who Arteta chooses as his first choice going into next season, though, it is anyone’s guess. Martinez is certainly demonstrating he can be more than a match for Leno.
