‘Already Shown Interest’: Report Reveals Arsenal Have Joined La Liga Giants In Battle For “Unbelievable” Midfielder

Arsenal and Atletico Madrid are both weighing up moves for Brighton midfielder Alexis Mac Allister, according to AS Argentina.

The publication says the two clubs have “already shown interest” in the player after being one of Argentina’s standout players at the World Cup.

Mac Allister has only recently signed a contract extension until 2025 so he won’t be available on the cheap if the Gunners do choose to make an offer for the midfielder during the January transfer window.

TalkSPORT pundit Jamie O’Hara was effusive in his praise of the 23-year-old after his performance in the final against France at the weekend, stating he is shocked that he is still playing for Brighton:

“I mean, he has been unbelievable. What a tournament he has had. I couldn’t believe how fantastic he was. I thought he was exceptional, I can’t believe he is at Brighton. I think big clubs are going to come in looking for him.”

Arsenal are not expected to make signing a midfielder a priority in January but, considering Mac Allister’s outstanding performances for club and country this campaign, it is not a surprise that Mikel Arteta’s side are keeping tabs on the World Cup winner.
