Allegri staying put in Italy despite Arsenal links

Massimiliano Allegri has insisted he intends to stay at Juventus after helping The Old Lady to their seventh consecutive Serie A title.

Juve secured the title with a 0-0 draw at Roma – the point being enough to beat Napoli to the Scudetto with a game to spare.

The draw also meant Juventus won the double, after having lifted the Coppa Italia only last week.

And for the Champions, there was further reason to celebrate as manager Max Allegri committed his future the club despite recent links with the vacant Arsenal job.

“If they don’t fire me, I see myself as staying at Juventus next year too,” he said. “We have to congratulate Napoli, which kept pace with a great Juventus. It’s hard to see these four years being repeated.

“I congratulate everyone who works for Juventus and the fans but the most credit goes to the players. With a team like this, with these men and these players, it’s easier to achieve your targets.”

Allegri had been one of the favourite’s to succeed the parting Arsene Wenger in North London, however the Italian’s latest comments have now all but ruled him out of the race to replace the Frenchman.

The Gunners will now turn their attention elsehwhere, with both Luis Enrique and Thomas Tuchel understood to be on the club’s radar.
