Alexis Sanchez Used Video Analysis To Improve His Play

Alexis Sanchez has arguably been the best Arsenal player so far this season with only Mesut Ozil seriously competing with the Chilean forward for the title. Sanchez has been deployed in the central striking position by Arsene Wenger and the player has responded with an excellent goal return of 6 goals in the Premier League putting him in joint 5th position only 3 goals behind Diego Costa in 1st.

Of course the injury to Olivier Giroud meant that Wenger had to use other options in the centre-forward position but the manager went with Sanchez. The improvement in Sanchez’ play and indeed his use as the centre forward is no accident as the player has turned to video and specifically videos on the internet of classic centre-forward play to learn from some of the best in the business at that position. Speaking ahead of the international break to Arsenal’s Official website Sanchez had this to say on his move to centre-forward:

“I like it as a centre forward because I can get involved in the play more, I have the chance to drop deep a little bit more and that means I can link up with my team-mates more.

“[The manager] is the one who decides, he’s the one who changes things around and decides where we play. He asked me to play there so I said fine – I looked up some videos on the internet to see how I needed to adjust my movement and I’ve been adapting since then.”

Sanchez is truly a team player and is key to Arsenal’s success this year. Fans will be hoping that if does to play tonight for Chile against Uruguay in their World Cup qualifier that he does not aggravate the”low-grade muscle injury” he suffered during training last week and caused him to miss Chile’s match with Colombia.
