Alexis Sanchez Storms To Top Of Premier League Scoring Charts

It is hard to argue that Alexis Sanchez is proving to be one of the best transfers ever made by Arsene Wenger. The fee of £31.7million paid to Barcelona for the Chilean’s services looks more and more like a total bargain especially when you consider the fees paid for the likes of Anthony Martial and Gonzalo Higuain by Manchester United and Juventus respectively in recent times.

In 14 minutes of unbelievable play in the second half vs West Ham on Saturday Alexis scored a sublime hat-trick transforming a close 1-0 game into an Arsenal 5-1 demolition as the Gunners celebrated their first visit to the London Stadium with a resounding victory. The 3 goals also sent Sanchez joint top of the Premier League scoring charts where he now sits tied with Diego Costa on 11 goals. Alexis has also added 4 assists and has an impressive minutes per goal ratio of 107minutes played for each League goal scored.

In his Arsenal career, the Chilean striker has 40 goals in 79 games which is damn good by anybody’s standards. It is becoming apparent that Wenger’s decision to move Alexis to the centre forward position is turning out to be a masterstroke and the boss and the player deserve lots of credit. Who knows how far Sanchez can take the Gunners this season but at this point after moving into second behind Chelsea nothing looks out of reach if the striker is on the pitch. Clearly Sanchez has earned the right to a bumper new contract which Arsenal are surely willing to offer the superlative striker in the very near future.
