Alexandre Lacazette up for Premier League Player of the Month

Alexandre Lacazette has been nominated as the Premier League Player of the Month for September.

The Frenchman scored twice in four league games – first a sensational winner against Cardiff City at the start of the month and secondly another fine strike to open the scoring against Everton in a 2-0 win for the Gunners.

The former Lyon striker also registered two assists, as he helped Unai Emery’s side to an unbeaten month in the top flight.

Lacazette’s displays last month earned him plenty of plaudits from his ex-players and pundits, including Martin Keown, who hailed him for his “impeccable attitude” and insisted Unai Emery should “build his Arsenal side around the Frenchman”.

The 27-year-old goes up against Willy Boly, Eden Hazard, James Maddison, Gylfi Sigurdsson and Raheem Sterling for the award, with the winner to be announced next Friday 12 October.
