‘They Never Forget You’ Manchester United Legend Compares Arsenal Star To Class of ’92 Team

Former Manchester United manager and legend Alex Ferguson was full of favourable comparisons for Arsenal superstar Bukayo Saka in a recent interview featured in the Daily Mirror.

Ferguson compared Saka to several players in his famous ‘Class of ’92’ team that saw Manchester United reach the pinnacle of club football – including Ryan Giggs, David Beckham and the Neville brothers.

He also praised Arteta for giving Saka a chance to become a true star at Arsenal, saying that Saka ‘will remember the manager who gave him his chance’.

Arsenal currently have plenty of top young players – while Saka is Fergie’s pick of the bunch, others, such as Gabriel Martinelli, William Saliba and Emile Smith Rowe also have endless amounts of potential.

How did Alex Ferguson compare Bukayo Saka to the Class of ’92?

In the interview, Ferguson said: “Well, for my take, people talk about when we had Giggs, Beckham, Scholes, Butt, and the Nevilles, people thought they made a great team. But what made it a great team was the spirit they created.

“They brought you a spirit, and they never forget you for giving them a chance in life. All the young players you get, like Arsenal at the moment, have got a lot of young players – Saka in particular – who will remember the manager who gave him his chance. That’s the important thing.

“And I think that most clubs have a very good scouting operation, but if a scout recommends a young player to you and you take him but don’t play him – scout’s wasted.

“You’ve got to have the confidence and the trust in your scouts to present this player to you. And if you’re producing young players, give him a chance. Because [otherwise] there’s no point in having them.”

How far can Bukayo Saka go at Arsenal?

Last season, Saka and Arsenal came very close to winning the Premier League title, only to be beaten to the punch by Manchester City.

Since then, the Gunners have improved their playing squad exponentially with stars such as Declan Rice, Kai Havertz and Jurrien Timber. Saka has yet to win the Premier League title with Arsenal – but if they continue to improve at such a fast rate, it should come sooner, rather than later.
