Manchester City legend Sergio Aguero says Arsenal’s transfer business this summer could well get them into contention for the Premier League title.

Although the former Argentinian international believes the Gunners will ultimately fall short in terms of challenging for first, he still feels Arteta’s men will have enough about them to finish in the top four:

“Arsenal are dark horses for the title after their transfer business, but Man City and Liverpool are clearly favourites… We will have to be attentive to Arsenal’s performance, which has put together a great project with the help of Arteta and I think that this year they will give people something to talk about… Manchester City, Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal will all make the top four.”

Aguero is certainly effusive in his praise with the way Arsenal have gone about improving their squad, but games are not won on paper. Everything depends on how well they perform on the pitch.

The Gunners have certainly strengthened in key areas, but it is an extremely competitive league and consistency is key to making sure qualification for the Champions League is secured.

Mikel Arteta’s side ultimately fell short in achieving their aims last season, although their work in the transfer market has convinced Aguero, at least, that they won’t have the same trouble finishing fourth this time around.
