Agent Reveals Arsenal Star’s Future “Will Be Resolved This Week”

Agent Kia Joorabchian has confirmed that defender David Luiz will know whether he is staying at Arsenal in the very near future.

The Brazilian’s current deal expires at the end of the month and FIFA have given clubs until June 23rd to offer short term extensions to players so they can see out the season with their current clubs.

However, the Gunners do have the option of extending Luiz’s stay for a further year anyway, but Joorabchian claims the financial impact of the global health crisis is causing the London club to hesitate on keeping the 32-year-old:

“What I can tell you is the situation from Arsenal’s point of view will be resolved this week. June 22nd is the deadline for most of the clubs to finish the season and beyond, irrespective of any other situation.”

“It’s a case of allowing Arsenal to sort out everything that needs to be sorted out during this pandemic. There are several issues within the whole structure that will get resolved.”

Based on his performance against Manchester City on Wednesday night, there will be many supporters hoping that the defender moves on. There are, though, other factors in play.

Pablo Mari could well be out for the remainder of the season due to an ankle injury he picked up in the first half of the 3-0 defeat at the Etihad, leaving head coach Mikel Arteta with just three fit centre-halves.

Allowing Luiz to leave at the end of the month could risk Arsenal completing the season with limited options at the back.
