Agent of Lyon star hints at summer move to The Emirates

The agent of Lyon superstar Nabil Fekir has hinted that the forward could be on his way to The Emirates at the end of the season.

Fekir has been the stand-out player for Lyon this season, finding the net 21 times in all competitions, and has attracted attention from all over Europe with his dazzling performances.

Amongst those interested in the France star are Arsenal, with Fekir reportedly manager Arsene Wenger’s number one target this summer.

And Wenger has been given a huge boost in his rumoured chase for the 24-year-old, after the player’s agent, Jean Pierre Bernes, has hinted he could leave the Groupama Stadium at the end of the season.

“Will Fekir still be at OL next season? It’s too early to talk about it,” he told Telefoot.

“We have time, that’s the straight line. There are important goals and he is already in a big club.

“After considering my relationship with [OL president] Jean-Michel Aulas, we will make the best decision.”

Any move for Fekir is expected to cost the Gunners in the region of £45 million, and they are likely to face competition from both Chelsea and Barcelona in their pursuit of the Lyon star. The fact that Arsenal are continuing to be linked with players of the quality of Fekir not to mention the potential transfer fee involved, suggests that the retooling of the Arsenal squad is finally happening.

Many fans thought the retooling was going to happen last summer when only Sead Kolasinac and Alexandre Lacazette joined the Gunners as the deals to sell Alexis Sanchez and replace him with Monaco’s Thomas Lemar fell through.

This winter transfer window however saw Arsenal complete the club record signing of Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang for £57.4 million from Borussia Dortmund and they added Henrikh Mkhitaryan in a straight swap deal with Man United for the unhappy Alexis Sanchez.

The Gunners continue to be linked with additions of quality players like Fekir so it finally seems as though Arsene Wenger not only has a significant transfer budget but that he is actually prepared to spend it.
