Mikel Arteta will be at the Emirates today as Manchester City take on Arsenal. There will likely be as much talk about the Spaniard as about the game itself with City’s assistant manager the favourite to take over at the Gunners.
His lack of experience is a major concern for many supporters, and while his coaching methods have been praised by numerous people in the game, fans on Twitter are wondering whether there are better managers out there:
Arsenal only view him as a leading candidate coz he will be a yes man to the board and wont ask for money for squad overhaul

What’s so great about Arteta ffs we should be aiming higher not lower

Relegation confirmed if #Arteta replacing @UnaiEmery_

There are so many good managers that are either available or arsenal can tout to manage them. Viera and arteta just aren’t competent for me. Arteta is just an assistant coach that has never managed before. If he had no affiliation to this club, he wouldn’t even be considered

Sounds like arteta is getting the job seems like he always was just had to wait to get the Man City game out the way big risk if we though

Surely if our current preference of candidate is a former player. It has to be Patrick Vieira! Played a great pressing game & turned NYCFC into a competitive side finishing second in MLS & Nice had the second-best defensive record in Ligue 1 last season! Why is he overlooked? ?♂️ pic.twitter.com/CKfSkBesvk

He’s a true Arsenal legend if they are going to give the job to an ex player then give it to someone like him not a novice like Arteta who was average at best and is no legend and has no managerial experience

My first choice is poch but if we won’t get him then let’s try arteta

Arteta is unproven, and if he is appointed it would be a gamble by Arsenal’s hierarchy. He has no experience at the highest level and would effectively be learning on the job.
Of course, there has been no final decision made yet. The Gunners are reportedly looking to interview up to 12 candidates next week, but Arteta’s name keeps being pushed to the top of the list for those likeliest to take on the mantle.
