Arsenal Say Goodbye To Bacary Sagna

It appears that Sagna is set to join his third club of his career as Arsenal say goodbye to the 31 year old right-back. The French international who is set to represent his national team during the World Cup in Brazil will move to Manchester as soon as his current contract expires. Despite negotiating with the Gunners since the winter transfer period, Sagna was not satisfied by the offer he received. According to the Daily Mail, City will meet his financial needs and will also offer him a long term deal which was out of the question when it comes to Arsenal and their policy regarding players over the age of 30.

Sanga who made 213 Premier League appearances for Arsenal does not seem to have a problem in joining title rivals, Manchester City. He followed in two of his fellow teammates’ footsteps as both Clichy and Nasri left the Emirates for higher salaries. Apparently winning the FA Cup was not enough to keep the French international back in London for a couple of years.

Even though the move is not yet completed, it is expected that Sagna will not return to London and that his destination will be Manchester. Hopefully for the Frenchman, he will manage to get used to the fact that he is no longer the manager’s only viable option for a spot in the starting eleven. City have several players ready to perform as right-backs, some of which are considered even better than the 31 year old like mega-popular Argentinian defender Pablo Zabaleta.
