Barca Enter Chase For Arsenal Target Gustavo

The Gunners were linked with a move for Gustavo in the summer transfer window but they instead made a move for Ozil who joined in a club-record deal from Real Madrid. Spurs were also credited with an interest in the holding midfielder, who decided to join Wolfsburg from Bayern Munich in the summer.

Recent reports have suggested that Wenger is set to reignite his interest in Gustavo even though he joined Wolfsburg only in August and has a contract until 2018. Wenger wants to add the Brazilian to his ranks as he seeks to bolster his squad which is competing on three fronts this season.

However, according to Metro, Wenger will have to fend off interest from Barcelona, who are also targeting the 26-year-old. The Catalans have desired a defensive enforcer since last season and have identified Gustavo as the perfect fit.

On being asked about rumours linking him with a move to Barcelona, Gustavo said, “It is always good to have your name linked with Barcelona. This is the third time there has been interest from them. I have a long contract with a buyout clause and if anyone wants to meet it they can sign me.”

Well, hopefully Gustavo sees himself in London rather than in Spain if he is indeed to move from Germany as he would be an excellent addition to the Arsenal squad.
