Bendtner Still Looking At Arsenal Exit

The Danish international, Nicklas Bendtner pulled on an Arsenal shirt this season for the first time in over 2 years against all the odds. It was deemed that he had played his last game for Arsenal way back in 2011, as he was sent out on loan to Sunderland and Juventus respectively for the next 2 seasons.

Also, as Arsenal went on their offloading spree this summer, there were talks with Crystal Palace over the permanent transfer of the attacker, though no deal took place unfortunately and he remained at the Emirates Stadium.

He is the only available option for manager Arsene Wenger as a back-up for star striker Olivier Giroud, and has thus managed to get some game time under his belt as and when Wenger decided to give Giroud a breather. He is also expected to feature further, though the 25-year old has maintained that he wants to quit Arsenal, either in the January transfer window or at the latest in the summer.

He spoke to Danish newspaper Ekstra Bladet and was reported by Metro as saying, “I want to leave Arsenal. If its in the winter we’ll have to wait and see. First priority is a new challenge – Money is second,”

“I’ve been playing football since I was four years and back then it was for the love of the sport.”

Arsenal are also preparing for his departure in the upcoming transfer window as it is being reported that they were interested in bringing a new striker, with names like Karim Benzema, Edin Dzeko, Demba Ba and Luis Suarez still doing the rounds. They have some money left in the bank after they did not end up spending the entire £70 million transfer budget and will be looking for another big name scoop in January.

With a new front man being lined up for the league leaders, it is a given that Bendtner’s chances of playing will be zeroed once he arrives. Do you think quitting Arsenal will be a good move for his career, and where do you see him ending up come January?
