Arsenal are believed to be interested in Ajax midfielder Mohammed Kudus, according to a report from The Athletic. Despite this, the Gunners aren’t the only club in the race to acquire his signature.

While Arsenal have been interested in signing Kudus for a considerable amount of time, other clubs have also joined the race. Among them are Newcastle United and Manchester United – additionally, Everton also tried to bring the player to Merseyside in 2020, but the move failed to come to fruition.

Due to this, the Gunners will need to fend off interest from these clubs if they are to succeed in their bid to sign the 22-year-old Ghanaian prodigy.

The current season has been the best of Kudus’ young career. So far, he has scored 11 goals and has notched up three assists in 29 Eredivisie games for Ajax. On top of this, he also has four goals and two assists in the Champions League under his belt – despite his young age, he has no problem mixing it up with the big boys.

Born in Nima, Ghana, Kudus’ career began life at Strong Tower FC and the Right to Dream footballing academy – the latter of which he spent eight years with.

In 2018, Kudus was headhunted and snapped up by Nordsjælland, which marked his first foray into European football. He went on to make 51 appearances for Tigrene, scoring 14 goals during his stay.

Two years later, he was signed by Erik Ten Hag’s Ajax for a fee of around £8 million. At Ajax, Kudus began to turn the heads of several massive clubs – he has scored 16 goals in 61 appearances for De Godenzonen.

Kudus has also represented his native Ghana on several occasions. He has won 23 caps for the Black Stars since 2019, scoring seven international goals in that time. He was also part of Ghana’s 2022 World Cup squad, in which he scored two goals.
