Bayer Leverkusen winger Moussa Diaby has confirmed that he will stay with the Bundesliga club for at least one more season.
The France international was linked with Arsenal, Manchester United and Newcastle earlier this year but, despite previously stating that he was considering a transfer, Diaby has now reaffirmed his commitment to Leverkusen:
“I’ve made my decision and [I] will play for Bayer Leverkusen again next season.”
Diaby is reportedly valued at around €75m (£64m) by his club so he would have been an expensive purchase for the Gunners but, after their pursuit of Raphinha, it seems clear that a move for a high-profile winger is on the agenda this summer.
After Diaby ruled himself out of a move, though, it will be interesting to see who technical director Edu turns to next. The likes of Real Madrid’s Marco Asensio, Barcelona’s Memphis Depay, Porto’s Pepe and Napoli’s Hirving Lozano have also been mentioned as potential targets in recent weeks but it is not known who would be Arsenal’s number one priority.
