Arsenal have announced the signing of Porto midfielder Fabio Vieira, with the Gunners paying €35m (£34m) up front, with another €5m (£4.3m) in add-ons.

The 22-year-old had been scouted for well over a year by the Gunners’ recruitment department but it is believed that manager Mikel Arteta was the one who pressed for the club to sign him.

Vieira is undoubtedly a very talented young player, but there are some questions about how he will fit into Arsenal’s system.
