Arsenal ‘Determined To Bet Heavily’ On 12M Rated Brazilian With Arteta Said To Be A Big Fan

Arsenal are “determined to bet heavily” on the signing of Barcelona goalkeeper Neto, according to Mundo Deportivo.

The Catalan publication reports that Gunners boss Mikel Arteta is a big fan of the Brazilian’s footwork; something he feels the club’s current number one, Bernd Leno, lacks.

Neto is available for €14m (£12m) this summer but, while the keeper’s representatives see Arsenal as the most “viable option”, Barca’s transfer demands are said to be making a deal difficult to complete.

For his part, Neto is keen on moving to the Premier League, although Mundo Deportivo claim that Tottenham could also be a potential destination after they registered their interest in recent months.

However, with Spurs now poised to sign Atalanta’s Pierluigi Gollini on a season-long loan, it is very likely that Arsenal won’t have any competition from their North London rivals for Neto. Whether the Gunners will match the 31-year-old’s asking price, though, we shall have to wait and see.
