Higuain Would Be A Crucial Signing For Gunners

In the midst of pre-season, Arsenal are about to make a splash by buying Gonzalo Higuain from Real Madrid.

According to his father Jorge Higuain, Italian club Juventus are also chasing the services of the French-born Argentine star as well. However, he made it clear that the deal with the Gunners is all but signed and are Arsenal are ready to pay a club record £22 million for the striker.

“Nothing has yet been signed but I assure you the negotiations between the clubs are at an advanced stage,” Jorge said.

The father later stated that they won’t strike a deal with the clubs until they reach an agreement over the transfer.

“We won’t agree a contract before the clubs reach a transfer deal. I’m sure Arsenal made a big offer, and Juventus,” he stated.

This move is one of many that Arsenal are trying to make this summer to contend for the Premier League title next season. Since the conclusion of the season, Manager Arsene Wenger has been given the green light to bring in well-known footballers to the north London club this summer. Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney continues to be linked to the club after sighting his disapproval of the Red Devils bringing in David Moyes as their replacement to Sir Alex Ferguson.

A move like this may be exactly what the Gunners need to ascend the likes of Man Utd, Man City and Chelsea and move to the top of the Premier League. The 25-year-old Argentine is known for his pace and strength in matches. Experts have stated over the years that he would be a dangerous threat for Premier League defenders.

Higuain tallied 16 goals and 5 assists for Los Blancos in La Liga last season. Wenger hopes this move to ignite the Gunners’ front-line will have a similar effect to the arrival of Thierry Henry when he joined the club in 1999.

Arsenal hope to complete this club record deal in the next couple days.
