Arsenal have enquired about signing Inter Milan centre-back Alessandro Bastoni, according to FCInterNews.it. The website claims that both the Gunners and Manchester City “tried to ask for information” about the player from his agent Tullio Tinti.
However, the interest has been knocked back with the defender committed to the Nerazzurri. It is believed that, after a breakout season in Serie A, the 21-year-old will be seeking a new contract.
Bastoni has been selected regularly by manager Antonio Conte this campaign, keeping out the vastly experienced Diego Godin, and he has now firmly established himself as a first-team regular.
It is not surprising that the Gunners would be looking at the Italian, considering he is left-footed, with head coach Mikel Arteta having been linked with a number of left-sided centre-halves over the past few months.
However, it is highly unlikely that Bastoni would consider leaving the San Siro and with his current deal expiring in 2023, Inter are under no pressure to sell either.
