Arsenal have made contact with French club Stade de Reims about signing centre-half Axel Disasi, according to reports in the English media.

The 22-year-old could be available for £13m when the transfer window reopens, making him a move economical alternative to RB Leipzig’s Dayot Upamecano.

Disasi has been part of a defence this season which is the best in Ligue One and, considering Reims are not the strongest side in the division, that is a major feat.
