Arsenal have been joined by Bayern Munich, Chelsea and Tottenham in the race for Atletico Madrid winger Thomas Lemar, according to France Football.
The French magazine claims that Atletico have “received offers from London,” suggesting that the Gunners, Spurs and the Blues have all been in contact regarding signing the 24-year-old this month.
Bayern are more reticent. They are apparently fans of Lemar but have been put off by Atletico’s €60m (£51m) asking price; a figure which is likely to scare off a number of interested parties.
The France international has not fared particularly well since joining Diego Simeone’s side in the summer of 2018. In his 64 appearances for the La Liga side, he has scored just three goals and contributed six assists.
Lemar’s stats for this season alone make for grim reading. He has failed to score or create a goal in 21 games, which makes his price tag even more unrealistic. Whether Atletico will lower their demands before the transfer window closes on Friday, we shall have to wait and see.
