Arsenal have confirmed that left-back Nacho Monreal has left the club to join Real Sociedad on a permanent basis. The 33-year-old is believed to have left for a nominal fee of around £225,000.
The fullback had spent the last six and a half years at the Emirates, racking up 251 appearances in the process. Fans on Twitter were praising the Spaniard’s contribution to the team and wished him all the best on his return to Spain:
Thank you, Nacho. What a great servant to the club and I remember he was our Mr.consistent in his initial years. Goodluck for the future.

With Kieran Tierney having arrived from Celtic in the summer, it was always likely that one of the club’s left-backs would depart. Even so, many would have probably preferred if he had left after tomorrow’s North London derby.
Tierney is closing in on a first-team debut following a groin injury, but he will not be ready to play against Tottenham. Sead Kolasinac will likely deputise with the Bosnian expected to make his first start of the campaign.
